Democracy in action - Learn how SimDemocracy conducts fair and transparent elections
Elections Supervisor
The Supervisor of Elections, also known as the Elections Supervisor (ES), and formerly known at different times and in different incarnations as the Secretary of Elections (SoE) and the Elections Commissioner (EC) is the Supervisor in charge of administering SimDemocracy's elections and referendums.
Voting Systems
Elections in SimDemocracy use the STAR Voting System, and FPTP (First-Past-The-Post) for referendums.
STAR Voting
STAR Voting, which stands for "Score Then Automatic Runoff," is an innovative electoral system that allows voters to score candidates on a scale from 0 to 5, combining elements of score voting and automatic runoff to select the most preferred candidate.
This system ensures that the winner has broad support across the electorate while still respecting individual voter preferences.
First-Past-The-Post (FPTP)
The First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) voting system is a plurality electoral system where the candidate with the most votes in a constituency wins, without needing a majority.
This system is used for referendums in SimDemocracy, providing a simple yes/no decision-making process for constitutional and policy matters.
